Amazonian Cruise |
Over 60 million years, South America was an enormous island, partially submerged in the Atlantic. Hundreds of rivers began to form, interlaced by the “Refuges of the Pleistocene” with the rarest species of plants and animals. Later Panama united the Continent with the north and the biogenetic transactions created the hugest life of orchids in the Planet.
In 1541, an expedition started off from Quito, the oldest capital of the continent, for “the Country of the Cinnamon”, in search of gold and other hidden wealth in the forest. Then there was the discovery of the Great River of the Amazon.
Almost 500 years have passed from the discovery of this fabulous system that crosses the more extensive natural forest of the world, lodging 10% of all the species of trees, 70% of all pharmaceutical compounds and indigenous communities that come in symbiotic form with their ecosystem. This is the habitat of wild species that has fresh water dolphins, 500 species of birds, dozens of species of monkeys, caymans, tapires, 2500 species of butterflies and much more...
Today, you can enjoy a stay in this magical world for adults and children. Our Manatee Amazon Explorer is designed for adventure, but with the comforts and advantages of the modern technology as it is the result of more than 25 years of experience in the organization of unique expeditions in its sort. You will be invited to board and share unforgettable memories with us. |
| Friday. - Quito · Manatee Amazon Explorer |
| Exit in the morning in a flight of about 30 minutes, crossing the east and landing in the Coca track, also a well-known Mountain range with the name of Francisco de Orellana, in honor to the European discoverer of the great Amazonian Hole in the year of 1541. Our ship will be ready in the wharf to initiate this great adventure filled with natural history, interaction with native communities and all the magic that the greatest natural reserve keeps from the world. Its biodiversity almost includes 560 species of birds and 10% of the botanical inventory on the Earth. Navigation begins on the Napo River and we go on to explore numerous ecosystems within the National Park Yasuní and the Biological Reserve of Limoncocha. As the Manatee moves by the river, the expert guide will indicate some of the natural wonders of the forest from the terrace of the ship with visits in small canoes specially designed for the Amazon (AC). |

| We will take long walks early in the morning towards the interior of the tropical humid forest with gigantic trees and tiny wild life, like sapitos, butterflies and bouquet natural of flowers that contrast with the intense verdor of the underbrush, lodging 70% of all the pharmaceutical components. At the end of the footpath, we arrived at an inner lagoon with an ample Vista from the surrounding forest and great amount from birds from the most capricious plumages. Before the lunch, we enjoy a refreshing swim. In the evening enjoy an exciting fishing of pirañas and try to discover the hidden wild life between the dense scrubs. Return to our ship by oar, as the natives do, on time to enjoy a delicious supper and to chat it in the terrace-bar of the Manatee, from where you will be able to observe many stars and the originating sounds of the dark forest (DAC). |
